Yes, the green & black one is my husband’s 883 custom, and the black one was an 883 but no idea if it was a low one or what. Lots of people on bikes were in and out of there during that short hour we were there. The red one is my 650 V-Star. The store was a variety of things that did originate during a mining boom back in the early 1900’s. Something that was really neat to me was that we could see this small mountain range off in the distance, and it just got closer and closer until we were right on the outskirts of it. I should have pulled over and got some pictures. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to approach a “real” mountain range! I have a brochure on riding the Ozarks over in Arkansas, originating out of the town of Harrison. Not Deal’s Gap, but with names like Moonshine Run (110 miles with 662 curves) or Jasper Disaster (56 miles with 316 curves) it’s supposed to be a biker’s dream area to ride. It will be awhile before I am ready to tackle something like that.

We had a big ice/snow storm here in Oklahoma that started on Thursday, and overnight, some of that freezing fog coated many of the ice-covered trees. It’s really interesting looking. I’m not sure how hard the Tulsa area got hit, but the southern part of the state got it pretty bad! Hang in there and indeed spring will have sprung, and you can hopefully cut down on the windshield washer fluid purchases!

That’s a nice number of miles for just weekend riding, since it’s not on the work commute. Hope it continues to get better and better for you!

Wow! Never have seen anything that looks quite like that. As you likely recall from your Okie days, we get the ice storms, but it’s nowhere near as pretty as your pictures. That sunrise pic reminds me of a Thomas Kincaid picture, all it needs is cottage in the foreground. We had a nice day on Sunday (near 70) so got a 50 mile ride in…tons of bikes of all sorts out that day! The downside was that there was quite a bit more traffic than usual – probably due to people out Christmas shopping.

Ha ha, bought my husband some stuff for his Sporty for Christmas. Put it in a large box, wrapped it, and told him it was my daughter’s present, and stuck it way in the back of the tree. I think he’ll be quite surprised on Christmas morning!
Too cold & windy to ride now here in OKC. We went out two weeks ago, and even the hard-core bikers were commenting on how bad the wind made the riding. Guess it’s about time to add the Stay-bil or whatever it’s called to the tanks. :(

…he’s showing off the fact that he can wear shorts in November! So wrong. :) Nice pic, though!

and it does help a great deal. Occasionally, I will get the buffeting or whatever it’s called, almost like someone swatting my helmet with boxing gloves. Since it’s sporadic, I suppose it’s due to the wind and my driving straight into it. And we do have LOTS of wind around here…alas, I suspect my riding season is quickly coming to a close. We’ve had an unseasonable warm October and until yesterday, a nice November to get some rides in on the weekends. But the drizzly, cold, windy, gray weather has shown up, much to my dismay. :(

Hey Eddie, thanks for the nice report on all the rides. Not often does one get an opportunity to try such a wide variety of bikes. Thanks for the nice words about my V-Star,too. I had a Rebel first and moved up to this in June, so I hope to keep it for awhile. However, I still look at all the other bikes out here and think about what I might like down the road (pun intended!). Why did the Yamaha guy recommend trying the 950 over the 650 in regard to scraping the floorboards? Those Spyders are neat looking; kind of a reverse trike, I guess.

…I told my guy at the shop I didn’t want anything way loud, just something with a nice little rumble, something louder than my stock pipes, which seemed pretty quiet to me. Guess I was uneasy about buying something “sound unheard”, much like “sight unseen.” But, I just brought it home, and I think it will be fine. Yeah, it’s louder, but probably just about like my husband’s Sporty. They do look larger in diameter than the old ones. Don’t think I will need to pull the baffles, but if needed, I can resort to coughing and throat-clearing if necessary. That episode of South Park was pretty funny.
So, I am trying to put the picture on here since I have added bags, a windshield, and a crash bar along with the pipes since I bought it this summer. And thanks for the congrats on the 22 year mark, too! New accessories for V-Star

Peter Gabriel had a couple of neat videos back in the day. Add a bike to the mix, and it turns out pretty cool! If only things would assemble themselves this nicely in real life….

Six thousand miles in a year sounds like a lot of riding, so that’s a very big accomplishment, in my book! Here’s to the next 6k….

I have seen a few of those around OKC, and must say they look like a car engine with a seat, handlebars, and pipes added on. Really different looking!

and was almost surprised to not see another one with her.

On a completely unrelated note, we went out today and bought leather chaps and jackets, since it’s getting cooler around here.  We went out today and during the two hours we were out, a cold front came through and dropped the temps into the mid 40’s, but that north wind made it feel worse.  The leathers did what they were supposed to do, but my fingers got cold since I have vented gloves.   Also the inside of my helmet would fog up at every stoplight!  Wonder if the anti-fog stuff is any good?

Congratulations on the recent accomplishment!  Those pictures are very nice….look like screensaver material!
