Participantwelcome and just be careful around campus. you college kids may be smart, but you all can’t drive worth shit!

Participantwelcome! now, can you be specific in what you like? cruisers, sport bikes, etc…? cruisers or standards would definately be the most comfortable for long distance commuting. if you like a sportier look, sport tourers would be decent for commutes as well.

ParticipantIf you’re in the Kalifernia bay area, go to http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/ or http://www.southbayriders.com/forums/index.php and check out the group rides section. There’s quite a few mellow group rides that meet up regularly. If you’re looking for an actual MC club, can’t really help you. I know a couple of people from various MC clubs, but that’s about it… not saying an MC club is bad, I just never understood the point of this exclusive club/initiation thing just to go out and have a good time riding…

Participantor you could probably wear chaps underneath… i might be willing to change my opinion on chaps with an appropriate picture modelling said chaps… I keed! I keed! sort of…

ParticipantRear brake man myself… on some of them hill in san fran, clutch-only becomes as useful as a third elbow…

Participantget some textiles that you can wear over your jeans. problem solved. Chaps are tacky and useless, imo. You’ll get abrasion resistence on the legs covered by the chaps, but nothing on the ass unless you wear something abrasion resistence, in which case, chaps would be unnecessary. Plus, they just look stupid… sorry cruiser riders that wear chaps and stuff…

ParticipantRead the fine print. Look for hidden fees, early closing penalities, and late payment penalties. Looks like 5% now, but one late payment and you could be looking at 17%. Take into account that with a loan, you will be forced to get full coverage insurance as well which will add to your total cost of ownership.

ParticipantC’mon, you mean it doesn’t put a smile on your face to dust that melonoma in his audi r8/tt, bmw m3/m5/z4, corvette, monster truck, mercedes suv, vw bug/jetta, porsche 911, covertte, etc…? Not that i’d personally know what that feels like to race these cars off the line… srsly… *whistles*

Participantfyi, if you’re talking about weather being 95-100+F, no suit in the world will keep you from feeling ridiculously hot. Summer days in Thunderhill can get to 100+F… I think the worst was 107F once. FAAAAAKKKKK….

ParticipantI like the kawi green… on kawi’s… for some reason, my brain says that color’s cool on kawis… but put in on another manufacturer’s bike and it makes me want to puke…

ParticipantIn terms of power, the 650r and the sv650s/sf are pretty much the same. If you fear getting into trouble with the SV, the 650r isn’t anymore newb friendlier. In terms of looks, if you get a fully faired sv650, they both look damn good. the 650r does have that distinctive kawi green color though. I don’t know if the 650r has abs, but you can get abs version of the sv650 lines.

ParticipantSV650s or SV650sf. Been around forever and there’s a ton of experienced information on them as well as aftermarket support. I’ve heard the ergos on the 650r are slightly better though.

Participantrace ’em or don’t race ’em… the choice is yours… but fyi, even on your little 250 you should be able to blow most cagers at the start of the intersection, even high powered sports/muscle cars… Most of those people don’t know how to fast start with those cars anyway. Just sayin…
