why not go with the black gear but on the jacket maybe put a strip of reflective tape across the back and down the sleeves and maybe if you get riding pants down the side of those? My jacket is black but I have a white helmet. A plus of that is the plain helmets are cheaper then the onces with the graphics on them.
linuxpimp20ParticipantDuring the MSF course we had to get into second and get going 15-20 mph then do the brake and had to down shift back to first or else you got points off on the exam. So I was under the assumption you had to do that even say in 3rd or 4th. But your saying just brake and then you can get back into first to get going? So even at a stop light you’d just brake to stop and then while your stopped down shift into first to get going again? And you’d just hold the clutch in and keep pressing down till your in first? I read or heard somewhere that down shifting through the gears quick is alright but up shifting without letting out the clutch each time can mess up your transmission. As you can tell I am a real beginner. lol. So far I have only taken the bike out a quarter mile down the road to an industrial road with lots of parking lots and little traffic. So practicing stuff like quick stopping and trying to be smooth with controls until I feel comfortable to go on the roads with traffic. Thanks for your reply.
linuxpimp20ParticipantThanks for the links. I had read the reserve tank related ones before asking. I just finished reading the First Days one and it was good. I had found that site through another post on here and it has been invaluable so far. Thanks again.
linuxpimp20ParticipantI took my MSF course in central MA and the instructor rides year round. He has heated gear.
linuxpimp20ParticipantAre you looking at the new 250 ninjas or planning on getting an older one? The new ones are selling pretty quick. As far as weight wise goes I think you would be alright. My friend has a new one and is about your weight. He adjusted the preloader for the shocks to make them a little stiffer because of his weight. Height wise I am not sure how the ergonomics would be for you but I don’t know if you have sat on one and got a feel for it or just looked at them online.
linuxpimp20ParticipantI think if I started on a bigger bike that might be an issue as well. I got a ninja 250 and what I like about them is they are small enough that I can put both feet down while on the bike.
linuxpimp20ParticipantI got my bike today. My friend went with me and rode it back for me so that I can ride it first closer to home in an area with less traffic. I work third shift and get out of work at 6 am and it is 1 pm so I won’t get to ride it myself till tomorrow.
linuxpimp20Participantmine is ebony and green.
