I am STILL having huge issues getting past the mental block of leaning my bike far enough.

Also, I am having a lot of trouble learning proper route planning… but I’ll post a story about that later…

I thought proper route planning was just taking a road that has pavement as long as it looks like it’s heading in the general direction of where you want/need to be. :-P

I think if I started on a bigger bike that might be an issue as well. I got a ninja 250 and what I like about them is they are small enough that I can put both feet down while on the bike.

Low speed maneuvering. I ride in a lot of busy parking lots as practice.

I’m not having much trouble with low speed maneuvering. The thing I’m being bugged by is my bike is not too happy going slow and going real slow in 1st and 2nd and only giving it little throttle makes it want to buck (more 1st than 2nd). Once I let up on the throttle in 1st the engine braking kicks in heavy, even going at it’s slowest.

a lot of people do slow speed maneuvering in second gear, as this tends to be less ‘bucky’… also, you can feather the clutch so that you can keep the gas up and slip the clutch…

You’re right, it is the “has pavement” bit I keep screwing up.

Yea, I’ve taken to just slowly letting my clutch out all the way and it goes plenty fast enough to have my feet off the ground and do all my turns without any throttle for parking lot stuff.

Lightly sore where i caught myself, bike got scratched up a lil. There were witnesses the first time i rode on the street… witnessing me stall many many times…
