Participantbro you should check out http://www.sportbiketrackgear.com they have scorpion helmets for under $100. which is the best helmet ur gonna find that cheap.

ParticipantWould the ninja be able to go 2 up with myself weighing 195 lbs. and my gf weighing 130 lbs. and still hang on the highway keeping up with an 80 mph flow of traffic? (of course after lots of miles and practice)
gregj
ParticipantSo if the ninja250 is the best for canyon rides what would be best to start on for mostly city riding. Keep in mind that when there’s not traffic the pace of the freeways out here is about 80 mph.

Participantthanks alot for the post dude…. i know i have been buggin everybody on this subject so this is a perfeect article for me….. I’m not trying to make an arguement as to why i’m the exception and not the rule i just want to make sure i make the all around best desicion. Like u said it’s hard to see yourself as just another face in the crowd but this is what you have to do to ensure safety. After this post i think i will go with the GS500. i still can’t bring myself to getting something as small as a 250 but then again i know nothing except for the number that i see and that steers me away. I would like a good bike to learn on but also when i’m preparred enough i would like it to be enough to go 2 up on the freeway. From what i’ve heard the GS500 should do this without much struggle. Well anyways good job on the post. “mission accomplished”. i know have a better view as to why this advice is being given. Well please give me your thoughts on the differences between the ninja and the GS. thanks for everything and sorry if we’re running circles around this matter but like i said i would like to make a well educated desicion.

ParticipantIt actually wasn’t a salesperson for the bikes. It was a dude in the gear department. But to answer the question NO I don’t trust them at all. I trust u guys so I asked.
gregj
ParticipantOkay guys so check this out. I’m am still deciding what bike and in contrast of what everybody said on here when I went to the dealer the guy suggested a cbr600 saying that I would get bored of the gs500 to quick. I know u guys have told me time and time again that this superbike is only for experienced riders. I told the guy the only thing I’ve ridden is dirtbikes and nothing bigger than a 125. He still says the gs500 is only for people that have NEVER touched a single bike in there life and are clueless as to shifting and all that good stuff. Anyways I know u guys will refer to him as an idiot who has a death threat for me but I figured I would still let u know what he said. Is he completly crazy or is there some truth behind this?
gregj
Participanti will check these sites out.
gregj
ParticipantThat would be cool dude. Yes definetly will stay safe. By the way i LOVE this website. it has been the most informitive thing i have been able to find. especially like i said i literally don’t know a single person who rides so i am relying on my fellow bestbeginnerbike buds on here for all advice…. you guys r the best.
gregj
ParticipantThe GS500 and the SV650 i was looking at are both around $3,000 for around 10k miles…..
Whichc is the better buy?gregj
ParticipantI live in Anaheim right next to Disneyland. I also have NO friends that ride so i will be needing some LOL.
gregj
Participantthanks dude.
gregj
Participantby good answer all i mean is something said that stands out to make me decide one way or another….. i guess thats all on me though.
gregj
ParticipantI am in the same exact prediciment. These are 2 real hard bike to choose from. I also was planning on starting on the gixxer 600 but have been strongly advised against this desicion. I like the look of the gs500 more than the SV650 but am afraid i would get bored of the power much earlier than i can afford to. I am on a budget and would probably be with my starter bike for about 2 years. I will stay posted on your forum in hopes to getting a good answer for bboth of us.
Welcome to the dark side….. i can’t wait to start riding… i just passed my written permit test yesturday and have a MSF course scheduled in about 3 weeks. Are you going to take the MSF course? you should look into it… it is HIGHLY recomended.
Good luck on everything. -
