I got to experience running out of gas for the first time this morning. Riding along….watching the sun rise…then sputter…sputter…oh…shoot!…out of gas… I pulled over to flip it to reserve. I don’t know if there was something at the bottom of the tank …but the bike was defiantly not happy after that…it sounded like it wanted to stall…

The curls luckily prevented me from doing some of the awful feathering (wings?) and high bangs (i think it was called “the claw”) that my high school classmates did with their hair.October 13, 2008 at 9:30 pm in reply to: Noob from NYC/NJ just took first private lesson and can’t wait for more!!!!! #13813chaiyaParticipantGood luck on your BRC! I loved my class. I thought it was so much fun. I escaped from Jersey (exit 14A) about eight years ago to move to California. There is life after Jersey
chaiyaParticipantI would totally recommend the rebel for anyone starting out…especially those on the shorter side. Try and find one at a dealership and sit on it. Also try the virago 250/ V star250 as well. I wasn’t really looking for a white bike in particular…just got a good deal on this one on craigslist. My coworker gave me some michelin man stickers since they co-ordinate so well with my bike
chaiyaParticipantI just hit 50 miles on my bike, and I’ve completed my first repair. There was a bar on the shifter that was bent like a banana (not sure what the girl I bought the bike from did to it)…anyway it made it really hard to shift. I switched it out (thanks bikebandit), and she is good as new. I also had my first group ride…went out with some friends from work for lunch. It was great to get some tips on what to work on.
chaiyaParticipantIt probably looks bigger because I’m so small… I’m just under 5’1″ . The rebel was one of the few bikes I could touch the ground on without having to do anything to it. I was on my tippy toes on the ninja 250.
chaiyaParticipantThanks for the complement
When I sent the pic to my friend, he said, ” wow…almost looks like a grown-up bike. ” (He was disappointed I didn’t get a Harley)
I love the bike…wouldn’t trade her for anything… well at least not for now…

chaiyaParticipantI just passed the MSF, and I think my husband was secretly hoping I wouldn’t pass and that would be the end of it. He’s not to thrilled about my getting a motorcycle. So I’m trying to get my husband to take the class as well…. maybe he will warm to it once he has tried it out.
chaiyaParticipantI rode a 125cc Kawasaki eliminator in class. It didn’t freak me out, but it defiantly felt heavy (there were parts of class where we had to push them around a bit.) I really wish the class was longer. I feel like I need a lot more practice. The class ends just when your having fun and starting to feel more comfortable.
