ParticipantI actually have college all paid for and i have a pretty good job. I can afford a couple hundred dollars a month. I will be fine in that regard. I know what you mean about the pair of jeans. I was just thinking about something that is safe on the freeway as well. Thats why i was kind of scared about the 250r. I am going to platteville college in wisconsin and there is a ton of freeway driving.

ParticipantIf everything works out i plan on getting a sv650 and if i have that for four or five years and then move up to a 600cc maybe. I have always loved the sport class. My dad raced 600cc bikes for along time and i always enjoyed going to the race track to watch them fly around

ParticipantIts so hard to get all of this figured out. The problem is that i’m going to college in September and really want a bike soon, my issue is money. I can take out a four year loan for any price. The only thing is i want to get a bike that i wont outgrow in 4 years. You know what i mean, i know its stupid but. I was wondering, lets say i get the 250r for 3500 brand new. By four years don’t you think i would out grow it? And i’m not going to get a 600cc, i almost made that stupid mistake. I want to get one after my first or couple starter bikes. Thats why i was thinking maybe starting with an sv650. But i don’t know if thats too big of a bike to start out with. I’ve talked to a couple of people that own the sv650 and they said it nothing to mess around with. It’s pretty powerful. Just wondering what you thought of that?

Participanti found a dealership in crystal lake Illinois that sells the 07 gs500f for about 4400

Participantk thanks about the suspension adjustment! Ha i just found a brand new 2007 gs500f from a dealership. for 4300. Ha i might go with that one

ParticipantYea, i won’t be hitting the track anytime soon. I’m dumb but not that dumb. I know i’m kind off a speed freak. But i will come to my senses and drive responsibly. I already have all the gear picked out. I would love to get an sv650, it might be a little hard with cash issues though. Question about the gs500f. I have a friend who wants to sell me his 2005 gs500f for 4500. it has 422 miles on it. Do you think thats to high? The bike is in perfect condition. I just think its a little pricey. and he won’t go any lower

ParticipantI was actually really looking into a 250r for a good couple years and then upgrade maybe. I’m grateful for people always knocking some sense into me. My next question is you said something about a suspension tune up. Would that cost a whole lot, i have also read on some other forums that the ninja 250r can handle some people up to 240? Is this true?
beginnernoob1
ParticipantK thanks thats nice to know when looking for bikes
beginnernoob1
ParticipantI always here that bikes should never have as many miles as a car. Is this true. When buying a used bike what should be the limit of miles on the bike? The Yamaha i’m getting has about 7 thousand on it. Thats pretty low for a 2000. I saw some bikes with 25,000 miles on it. Is that ok or should you stay away from bikes with high Mileage?
beginnernoob1
ParticipantThanks for everything. If you didn’t tell me about that sludge issue. I would have never have known. Whats nice about where i’m going to learn how to ride it is in the middle of no where. There are a ton of farm roads to practice and enjoy. Sorry for all the questions, but i have one more. Because i took out a loan for this bike. Do you think if i took very good care of it and maintained of course, would it last another four years maybe. Thats how long the loan is. I couldn’t get any shorter of a time.
I will do whatever it takes to keep it running?

ParticipantThanks everyone for the help, i will remember the throttle goes forward and backward. Thats a huge help thanks for everything.
