ParticipantA new central IL rider here once I get the MSF course taken. I was there tonight as a walk in but missed out by 1. The 3 people on the wait list all got in. I’ll try again tomorrow and see how it goes.

ParticipantHiya! Hope you get into a class. The riding portion was total fun. What was a passing curiosity with learning to ride a motorcycle could be fun, turned into I bike everywhere now and have fun doing it…

ParticipantI’ll try again tonight with the walk in thing. I could give up my spot in late August to get on a wait list but I’m hesitant to do that in case I am unable to get into a class before then. I don’t know if 3 wait list people getting in is normal or just because of the up coming holiday.

ParticipantStruck out again last night missing out by 1. 2 people on the wait list got in and a walk in that got there earlier than I did.

ParticipantBummer…
Yeh, if trying to walk in, try to get there as early as possible. it’s not uncommon for a class to have 3 or more hopefuls. My class in april, there were 7 hopefuls. All of them arrived on time, so the instructor did a lottery. YMMV, but basically, don’t be late to class and let the chips fall where they may…

ParticipantI was there at 5pm 2 days in a row. I was the first walk in on Wednesday and the 2nd on Thursday. I’ll go earlier than half an hour next time. I could go onto a wait list for a class closer than the one I am in but I don’t really want to give up that spot and then not get into another class. I don’t know the odds but the classes are very busy and July will just bring warm sunny weather. The instructor did tell me that rain normally means a few no shows and a good chance of getting in.

Participant3rd time lucky as a walk in tonight. 5 people didn’t show and I was the only walk in so the class only has 10. Might have been the big thunderstorm we had during class. Video’s and book work was little dry tonight but we get to ride on Wednesday.

ParticipantAsked the instructor and he said we will ride in rain bit not in a storm. So to bring any rain gear if it’s on the forecast. right now it says 80 and sunny. Not sure what to do for gloves. I have some gardening gloves that should work, or I could go buy something from the bike dealership.

ParticipantGardening gloves will work provided they go over your wrists. If you have a leather pair that does that, you’re golden.

ParticipantYou can just show up at the classes and hope that someone is absent or whatever? If there is a spot available are you enrolled right away?

ParticipantYes. Is called being a walk in. I got there at 4.55 pm for a 5:30 start to make sure I was first. There was 12 on the class list with 2 people on the wait list. I was hoping that 3 people wouldn’t show and I could sneak in. 5 people didn’t show and the class is short 2 people. I am still booked for late August but they basically processed me as an unpaid person and had me fill out an extra form. I need to cancel the other class to get my original $20 back.
