Right now i am 14 and it will be about a year and a half or more until i am eligible to get a rider’s permit. I haven’t really told them yet but I am worried that they will not allow it as well.
When I look at this, there are so many more pros than cons, especially in this economy.
+amazing gas mileage
+cheap to buy and own, compared to cars
This one is kinda chintzy, but… your parents don’t have to worry about you talking on your cellular phone, unless you wanted to kill yourself. : )SpartanG6ParticipantI’ll have to think about the electric scooter thing, because they seem a bit pricey… Like you said, I’ll look into it.
Maybe next time my dad and I go to the library, I can get a book on motorcycles (safety would be good, if they have it). Maybe that would help, and the website thing is a good idea as well.
As for the dirtbike class, this works out perfectly because my dad and I want to get involved in motorsports together. We were thinking about taking an endurance karting school, but maybe I can convince him to do this. The only problem is to further develop my ability, I’d probably need to buy one… who knows, maybe if my dad and I both try it, he would be interested enough to maybe look into buying one.
As stated several times, patience will be key here, and I’ll be sure to gradually work my way into it. But that dirtbike learning/safety course definitely sounds good, I’ll call the nearest location to get a price.
SpartanG6ParticipantI’m trying to think of a way to break my idea to them. I have this feeling that they will just say no and not listen to anything I have to say. Also, I have a hunch that 70% of motorcyclists who DIE in an accident are either 1) they are intoxicated, 2) they are stunting or going very fast, or 3) just something generally stupid. Another great reason to get it is because our house has a 3-car garage. 2 of the bays store cars, the last one stores our junk, such as the mower and bicycles. A motorcycle would save the space constraint problem. I wouldn’t be very happy if I had to leave my car outside in the blistering heat of summer and the frigid ice of winter.
I don’t see a dirt bike happening, as I live in a suburban area, and I just did a quick google search and they seem pretty expensive…. Now when you say scooter, what do you mean by that? an electric one like this? Clicky
or maybe like this?
