    Centerstand is awesome!

As an added bonus, the bike isn’t leaning to the side, so you can do a spot-on oil level check before you ride, without having to hold the bike upright. Cool!

Apparently I was too aggressive practising riding on a gravel road for a few miles. It was big pieces of rock. That’s the only thing I can think of.

There’s a spot at the Chipolte in town that’s diagonal lines. A car can’t fit in it, but my bike sure does fine. As a plus, I can sit and watch it out the window. Now that’s cool. *thumbs up*

Only thing to watch for are diagonal lines by a fire hydrant or a handicap van spot. Don’t park there, a ticket may be affixed to your bike.

If you’re going the 600/650 route, remember this:

    A 600cc I4 (GSX-R600, R6, Zx-6R) is much more powerful than a I2 650 (Ninja 650) or V2 (SV650S). For a beginner, too powerful.

I went to text someone after I got home, only to find my cell phone appeared to be dead. It was in my mesh jacket pocket, and probably got drenched.

I took the battery off and let it dry overnight. It works again!

I think I need to take along some ziplock baggies in my tail bag to put my phone in so it doesn’t happen again if I get stuck in the rain.

Who knew getting work done could be such a pain?

I got my Sport Demons at the crack of dawn (pre-noon, which is like 4am for those of us who work nights) when the UPS man rang the doorbell. Very sweet tires in person!

Call up the Kawasaki dealer. “Sorry, we don’t mount tires we didn’t sell.” WTF!
Screw me over on the install, and you’re sure to make up the lost profits on the tires.

I remember the place I bought them from, motorcycle-superstore.com, has a preferred installer program. So I check, and it’s the MX dealer that sells KTM. OK, fine. Their list price on installing a set of street tires: $90. I still need to call and see if they have it cheaper for direct calls.

Still, at $90, rip or not?

So the SV650S is like the pre-08 Ninja 250 in riding posture?

1000 to 1600 for a EX500? That might be hard to find. Maybe an old beat to hell one for that price?

Ninja 250 for the win. Yeah, it’s a rice rocket, sorry. If you’re ambitious, you could remove the fairings and make it naked.

Cheap ($2000ish used) and has no problem running at any speed, highway or street.

The Buell Blast might be something to look at, but from what I heard, it’s a beast to manoeuvre and a slug compared to the Ninja 250.

I still ride at night within the city limits. But once I get out of town in the dark, heck with that. I’m headed back into the city lights, unless there is something in the darkness I want to go to.

For just trolling around wasting time at night (which happens a lot when you work nights) I like to keep it under city lights.

Welcome from the BRC flunkee himself, me!

BRC is a lot to absorb. I bit the dust on the emergency braking in a curve part of the test.

    You will do fine!

Don’t let failure be an option. For real.

After failing BRC, I got a bike, and I think I’m getting better everyday riding it. I never rode a day in my life before the BRC.

I’m still re-taking BRC next month. I feel that I made a lot of progress on my bike, so the class should be a piece of cake. I already passed the state test on my own, anyway, and already have a full license.

I don’t understand how people could think a helmet makes them hot?

I feel great in my Scorpion EXO-700 helmet. It’s so comfortable, it’s like a second to my pillow.

You could get an Aprilia RS-50 which is quite low and light. 2 Cycle Fun.

In the UK, you guys are limited to 50cc when you start, right?
