If we ever get the img tag working, i’ll post a pic of my buddy’s bike and helmet after a trip to spokane… talk about bug magnet… :P

As far as fanny-fatigue (a.k.a. monkey butt) goes, shop around for seat replacements. I think gel seats are popular replacements.. as well as custom seats like corbin. Can’t vouch for these things though as i’ve been perfectly happy with my stock seat.

I think the saddest thing about that girl if she had passed and got her license is that most dealers would sell her that litre bike…

Even me having driven a manual transmission car for 8 years, I stalled the bike more than a few times… heh heh. Luckily, I wasn’t the only one in the class that did that.

But I did feel bad for that lady though. She definately didn’t mean to drop the bike, but at the same time, I didn’t feel completely safe following her or having her behind me during the drills either.

Motorcycles (sport bikes only???) are notorious for having optomistic speedos and the ninja’s no exception. Deviations can be from 6mph to 10+mph overestimation of speed. With an optomistic speedo, my buddy got his ninja to 110mph… going downhill with the wind at his back.

Actually, a lady got sent home in our class for dropping the bike twice… You’re probably fine dropping their bike once, but more than that…

    Welcome!

If you’re feeling somewhat terrified, I hope you pickup your bike in a trailer or truck… or have an experienced rider ride it home. You should have fun in the safety class though and what you learn there should put you somewhat at ease. G’luck and hope to hear from you soon. (-:

The only thing the instructers said about that was that it helped if you’ve ridden at least a bicycle, but they said you don’t need to have that experience and that they’ve had such people pass the course. Maybe it’s just one of those things that depends on the instructor… dunno. But my instructors definately made it seem like it wasn’t a prereq.

Rejetting’s only needed if you do a full exhaust replacement. You won’t need to rejet if all you change is the slip on. You can rejet if you want but you won’t see much of a performance difference. Although, you will have to ride the bike a while to really determine if you need to rejet. If you start back firing or loose power at higher gears, then those are signs that a rejetting is needed.

Edit: yeh, might i add, love my two bros. titanium m2 slip on. ^_^

That wasn’t actually a requirement here. The MSF instructors were proud of the fact they had students pass with not even a wisp of bicycle riding experience. So riding a bicycle’s not a prereq for the MSF beginner course.

Yeh, that definately sounds like a cool route to take. Be aware, my buddy says that ninja250 loses 1/2 its horsepower going up mountains around 6000 ft. He was redlining and barely pulling 50 mph… I’m assuming that I remember correctly that you’ve got a ninja 250.

Welcome! As an SV650S rider, I have to say, it’s an excellent bike. ^_^

There’s less mark up on a bike, so don’t expect 10K off the msrp if you go new. Although, getting an older model, there are deals to be made.
