Hey, just bought a 2004 Rebel with less than 1500 miles. My son and I will go to pick her up tomorrow. We both have no mc license yet, but did register for the MC safety class. I haven’t rided a bike since I was a teenage, so I’m somewhat terrified. If this does not work, I will trade her for a scooter.

If you’re feeling somewhat terrified, I hope you pickup your bike in a trailer or truck… or have an experienced rider ride it home. You should have fun in the safety class though and what you learn there should put you somewhat at ease. G’luck and hope to hear from you soon. (-:

We will ride the Jeep topless and doorless to pick our rebel. Can’t wait. I hope our Rebel will level the playing field in MPG for us. Our Jeep gets about 13MPG if we have tail wind behind us.

June 13, 2008 at 9:35 pm #7329rockDAWGParticipant15 bucks fill up, those were the days. I remember back in late 70’s the college days, round trip from Buffalo to Toronto was less than $10 gas with my Honda Civic
BTW, we picked up our bike last nite. Although it is a 2004 model, the Bike looks new, less than 1200 mile. She starts easy. Only thing it bothers me a little hard to get into Neutral from first gear. Since I haven’t rode a MC for more than 40 years. Damn, the first gear is way too fast for me. ….. hahah. I don’t really want to fall on the side on the pavement, so I rode around our back yard lawn last nite. Actually it was 1 am when we get back home.
I need a lot of practice before to I can take it on the road. Can’t wait until I attend the MC safety class.
June 14, 2008 at 6:49 am #7337megaspazParticipantCongrats on your new bike.
The finding neutral on the rebel issue is something I noticed when riding the rebel at the msf. That and the seemingly inconsistent upshifting to second gear was another issue. I always chalked that up to noobness, but after picking up my sv650s a week after the msf, I had no issues finding neutral or shifting. Different bike, different feel I guess…
