but often true.
JtownJJAParticipantI’ve definitely seen the number of posts go down on the forums since this started. Not sure if it is the warning messages or the beginning of Fall and the end of summer.
JtownJJAParticipantfor my next bike. A sport-bike look alike, but not with the riding position of a super-sport. If you haven’t already seen it, here is a link to a previous post of mine that talks about 3 bikes that fit this category.
JtownJJAParticipantIf you are serious about staying with an automatic, why don’t you look into a scooter? Lots of good selections out there, and you get a big comfy seat often with trunk space under it. A CF-Moto is pretty much a scooter in motorcycle clothing anyway. I have heard of them, but I don’t know much about the reliability or quality of them long-term. Do you have a good CF-Moto dealer locally for continued service?
JtownJJAParticipantI also started getting a warning about 2 days ago. The warning comes up on my home laptop, a mac. However, I don’t get the warning at all when using my work laptop, a windows PC.
September 5, 2010 at 1:51 am in reply to: Article that compares Yamaha FZ6R, Suzuki GSX650F, and Kawasaki Ninja 650R (… and FZ8!) #28482JtownJJAParticipantI like my GS500F for it’s size, comfort, fuel efficiency, and power, but there’s no way I can afford the cost or space for keeping 2 bikes. However, I wouldn’t mind having fuel injection, less vibration at higher speeds, and a more sophisticated panel display. And, yes, costs are a definite concern. Otherwise, I’d be looking more at the Honda NT700V, BMW F800ST, or the Triumph Sprint ST. Thus my favorites are the three listed in the original post.
JtownJJAParticipantIn central Ohio, there are plenty of offerings of the BRC, although they could use more since they all fill up quickly. However, there are very limited offerings of the ERC throughout the state. I’ll have to keep watching to see when and where it will come up next season. I’m certain it’s too late for this season. However, I think it would be a great idea for me to take it. Sounds like a great learning experience and a lot of fun.
JtownJJAParticipantGlad to have you here. Lots of good help to be found here as you seem to have already found some of it. I’m still pretty new to motorcycling myself, as I’ve been riding about a year and 4 months. I’m mostly familiar with newer models, and I could suggest that you may want to take a look at the Kawasaki Er-6n, the Suzuki Gladius, or perhaps the BMW G650GS. These are all pushing the limits for a beginner, but no more than the SV650 that you already mentioned. There are certainly some older models that have been discontinued as well (as you listed a few) but I’m not as familiar with them since I’m haven’t been in this that long. I’m sure some of the others will chime in with their input as well. Again, welcome aboard BBM!
JtownJJAParticipantat the fuel pump after filling up.
JtownJJAParticipantLooks like a nice place beside water to sit in the sun. What’s next?
August 20, 2010 at 3:23 am in reply to: question on sport bikes for Eternal, Mega, or anyone who can help. #28177JtownJJAParticipantwhich provides me with the most important areas I need to keep an eye on. Otherwise, for a slightly different view, I’ll change positions a bit to see the mirror at a different angle. Just keeping the stock mirrors on my GS500F, I’ve never felt like I needed more. However, I haven’t ridden too many other bikes, so I don’t have anything much to compare back to.
JtownJJAParticipantMy apologies, A. This is the first thing like this I’ve been a part of. Must be part of the fun to make it as long as possible. I was able to delete my other post and add it here.
Next challenge is your bike and a beach. Ocean, Lake, River… all are good. (People are optional.) I took this during lunch today at Alum Creek State Park which is just north of where I work in the Polaris area of Columbus. Had lunch at a picnic table, then took a few shots before heading back to work. Stopped at the gas station on the way to get the gas pump shot above.
JtownJJAParticipantJtownJJAParticipantWhat’s with these bike companies? I drive a yellow bike because I like’em bright and easily seen. Suzuki has released a few 2011 models, and the Vstrom 650 colors… White or Black ???? Wheres the yellow, orange, or at least red or blue? And as you said, Kawasaki only offers 1 color now on the Er-6n, if you want to call flat black a color.
JtownJJAParticipantWell written WZ! Bikes like the ZX10, GSXR1000, or CBR1000 are great to dream about, but as you said, they are not really practical for the street, and I would hate to see the bottom line of an insurance quote for one.
