Sorry…I know it offends some about the whole crotch rocket thing but today I don’t really care. Some deserve the title.
A couple of things that put me off today… the first some lil’ 19 something jack ass burning up the super slab decided that an open left or right lane was not enough for him but that he wanted to pass me in my lane. Never mind I am in the middle of my lane and never mind I am already doing 75 in a 65 (any less and you get run down by cagers) HE wants to I guess make some stupid statement about his lil’ crotch rocket being fast. Needless to say …. Monday I am ordering a handle bar whip. Next one to try that again… gets to feel a nice swat in the head, hopefully the full couple of inches will wrap around that helmet and snap a nice welp on his t-shirted chest. Few miles later… I see yet another crotch rocket kid draggin his right foot no more then an inch above the highway, god only knows for whatever reason. I dropped back A LOT because our roads here aren’t known for being level and smooth. I knew just as soon as he caught a dip the leg was going to get swung back over the saddle and would have saved the county money on speed bumps. Luckily his exit was 5 miles after his short stint on the highway. Then as if that wasn’t enough to bug me and really make me want to go to McD’s and snatch one up by the poser “Busa Team Jacket” I get to the smaller back roads to see ..yep …another crotch rocket take off from a light ..catch up to a School Bus full of the local team pulling a wheelie!!! WTF is wrong with these idiots!
Thankfully none of our sport bike riders here on BBM are ….. hmmm…whats the right word…. stupid.
To our sport bike fans here…No this is not aimed at y’all. This is to those three idiots that don’t deserve the respect to be concidered anything but Squids on crotch rockets….
/end rant.August 28, 2009 at 1:16 am #21972EliasParticipantTake a look at this guys whip…and a real good look at what’s on the end of it
That’s right up your alley!
August 28, 2009 at 3:38 am #21975eonParticipantNo shortage of those assholes around these parts. Probably the same across the whole country. It always makes me laugh to see them wearing a $500 helmet and t-shirt/sneakers. Got passed by one just last night but he gave me just enough room where I did not get mad.
Hi-jack your thread here but it reminded me of something I’ve been meaning to ask. I’ve recently noticed I’ve been getting REALLY angry at folks who cut me up when I’m on the bike. It’s never bothered me when I’m in a car, just shake my head and mutter some cuss words. But when I’m on the bike I’ve been getting these (almost) uncontrollable rages when someone cuts me up. I’ve had visions of kicking their cars, reaching in and strangling them etc etc. Somehow it seems more personal when my life is being put in danger by someones thoughtlessness. Got to get these feelings under control before I act on them. There will only be one loser if I ever do.
August 28, 2009 at 3:51 am #21976owlieParticipantI know that the whole 1%er thing was taken to heart and made a phenomenon by the hard-core, hard-living Harley crowd, but I have to say that in the last 10-15 years, the crotch rockets have them beat for being a public nuisance.
My husband refers to days like yours as “F#@%-wipe on the road” days.
Kick back this evening, be glad that you made it home in one piece and without having to decide whether you should laugh maniacally first or call 911.

My wife said she saw the same thing once which scared the cruiser guy shipless since he never saw the sport bike coming. She was scared the cruiser guy was going to wipe out just from being startled so badly.
Sadly, they seem to fall in same demographic… youngin’s on sport bikes that they can probably barely afford with a high end helmet and no other gear… unless you consider a sleeveless shirt “gear”.
I must look really out of place on my sport bike with my hi-viz jacket.
August 29, 2009 at 8:04 am #22000eternal05ParticipantEvery once in a while I’ll get REALLY riled up over this crap. Yeah Elwood, sometimes unleashing a storm of swearing inside my helmet is enough, but sometimes it’s just SO BAD.
I was at my all-time worst last summer. In the span of about a week, I’d had the same experience three times: some asshole in an adjacent lane starts changing into my lane…or more specifically, into ME. Each time, the same thing happened. No big surprise; I expect that crap from drivers. I laid on the horn, pulsed it, held it, shouted, waved…nothing. As the cars crept into my lane, I’d keep out of their way, hoping that at some point, the dickwads would realize their mistake and get out of my way. No dice.
So at the end of that week, I made the ultimate error: I acted on anger. I was lucky that it had no consequences, but in retrospect it’s done a lot to make me realize how foolishly emotional I’ve let myself become on the road. I was mid-right-turn at an intersection (with traffic signals, I had a green light), but had to wait for some pedestrians crossing the street at the adjacent crosswalk. While I’m waiting, a minivan goes AROUND me, pushes through the pedestrians in the adjacent lane, then, as I then started to go forward with the pedestrians cleared, changed lanes into me. Same thing. Honked. Yelled. Waved. I lost it. He HAD to have seen me to realize he had to go around me. He made an illegal turn. He nearly ran over a few pedestrians. And on top of that, the idiot tries to run me over by suddenly switching back to the lane he was supposed to be in? I was so furious that I punched the back of the van with my titanium-knuckled gauntlet. Nothing. The occupants of the car didn’t notice at all.
I’m incredibly lucky that a) they didn’t notice, b) I didn’t damage the car (hmm…what does that say about my punch, c) the driver wasn’t a trigger-happy crazy with a sawed-off shottie under the dash, d) the ol’ LEO didn’t see it, e) I didn’t sabotage my riding mid-punch, etc. Don’t let this happen to you. Control your anger, and don’t risk your life in a multitude of ways by stupidly letting rage get the best of you.
August 29, 2009 at 8:05 am #22001eternal05ParticipantWhat am I looking for on which end?
August 31, 2009 at 6:33 pm #22099CBBaronParticipantNo Motorcycle yet but I commute by bicycle everyday, and it definitely feels more personal when they threaten your life. Most times I can shrug it off but careless behavior, especially stupid life threatening behavior just to get to their destination a couple seconds earlier, really boils my blood.
Luckily the ride is enjoyable enough to forget the rage fairly quickly.
