Is the Suzuki GS500F a GS500E with a cowling or is the sitting position more sport bike?
I took a look at a GS500E this past weekend and it looks like it would be perfect (I did not end up test riding it though).

Should it start when pressing the button without giving it any gas?
If cold start with the choke but no throttle.
If warm start with no choke and no trottle.

Should a bike start right up without using the throttle? (with the choke or without the choke when warm)

I just went from casually looking to seriously looking (Craigs List mostly). All of a sudden it seems the bikes I am looking for are scarce. I may have to consider a Blast. My main problem is that the seat seems low. Plus that they are relatively common on Craigs list seems to not be a good sign.

Just before I took the class, I rode my friends 750 cruser around his back yard. At the time I had esentially no experience. It is more than I really want to have but I could ride it. (I’m 5-10, 165) I know I do not want a cruiser but if I did, I would get a 650. The 250 cruisers are IMO too small. (I say that, knowing that there is a good chance I may get a 250 non-cruiser)

The main reason I was asking is in the event I found what I was looking for a few hours away. I would not want to make two trips. A friend of mine may have a trailer.

Ford Pinto? How old are you?
In the early 70’s my mother won a Pinto in a drawing. Second place was two Pintos.
