I figured something wasn’t right. I am worried as it is a used bike that there might be a deeper problem in the near future. So for now I told the seller to check it out and get back to me. Thanks again everyone. This has been a very informative site for me as a beginner
cboliver40ParticipantI Thought I bought an 05 rebel last week…went today ( sunday 10-5-08) to ride it home. Runs like a charm. My husband was following me home in the truck. I stopped to tell him how much fun I was having and tried to shift into neutral…won’t go unless you turn the bike off. I thought since i am a beginner I must be doing something wrong…I went through all the steps, won’t go.
I took it back to the gal I bought it form and she says” Oh it never does, I always hold in the clutch? In my class, with the bike running we had to shift into neutral while running and hold up our left hand until signaled to do the next manuver. I felt there was something wrong with the bike but she says she has had the bike since it had 600 miles on it and she thinks that is just the way the bike is?! Any body know anything about this ? Should the bike be able shift into neutral while running? -
