Well tonight was the very first BBM motorcycle ride! Here is the roster:
Ray – The leader riding a sv1000
Jay AKA Jiriki – Riding a blue 2008 Ninja 250
Jeff – Riding a red 2007 Ninja 250
Vincent AKA megaspaz – Riding a SV650
me AKA Ben – Riding my 2001 ZX6R and riding last as the sweeper.I had a blast, here is a photo essay of our adventures!
Vincent was the first to arrive at the starbucks meeting place. Ironically I drove right past him without even seeing him. Next time don’t hide behind trees!
The next to show up was my friend Ray who was leading the ride (the guy in red) and Jay on his brand new ninja 250.
After a little confusion as to which starbucks we were at, Jeff showed up in style on his red 250. Who was the genius that chose the meeting spot with 3 seperate starbucks nearby…? Oh wait, that was me
Ray gives a little preflight instruction to the group.
Ray and Vince chat in front of my beautiful ZX6R.
And we’re off! This is a shot of everyone riding Highway 17 south. This is the first time I actually tried to take a picture while riding against my better judgement. Haha, I probalby won’t be doing that again.
This is a picture of our first stop after riding up Old Santa Cruz road and some other road that I can’t remember. From left to right its Ray, Jeff and Jay.
After a quick bathroom break we got to riding again and after a short while we came across this! What!?!? A traffic jam in the hills???? We were all pretty confused.
Since we were at a standstill I broke out the camera and took a picture of vincent. He looks pretty happy to be in traffic…. that guys craaaaaaaaaaazy.
Turns out there was a VERY LONG traffic signal that filtered onto a one way road.
After a somewhat uneventful short ride where we were blocked by slow cars and red lights, we all stopped at jack in the box to refuel.
After food we strategized on the best way to avoid the multiple fires in the hills of santa cruz and we decided to go for 152 again. We were detoured and guess what, we hit another red light!
This light actually wasn’t that long, just enough time to pull out the camera and snap a few quick pics!
Hey it’s me taking a picture of myself waiting at a red light! COOL!
After the last red light the rest of the ride was awesome, lots of sweepers and some twisty curves as well. This picture is at the end right before we went our separate ways.
I wasn’t in any of the pictures so after a little work to figure out how to make the camera automatic I jumped in this last picture. That’s me at the left with the black shirt and mohawk. All things considered this was one of the best motorcycle rides I’ve gone on. I was really surprised I had so much fun. The ride was at a mellow pace, but actually we ended up riding a lot faster than I anticipated. In fact at one point I almost blew a turn because I didn’t realize we were going so quick!
Thanks to everyone that showed up, and I hope I got everyone’s names right. Hopefully we can do this again soon.

around, I want it caught and shot now…June 23, 2008 at 6:28 am #7664GeoffGuestI had a great time. We should definitely do this again. Also, it’s pronounced “die-neh-zeh” according to Wikipedia.
June 23, 2008 at 6:38 am #7666rayoParticipantGood ride today. Thanks for oganizing it. I can’t believe all the fires in the hills. We saw some of the charred earth along highway 1 in Watsonville. Highway 152 between Watsonville and Gilroy was closed due to a fire. After about a 1 hour detour and some food, we were almost caught in yet another brand new fire on Watsonville road.
Great group of good riders. Everyone rode well and the group was easy to keep together. Let me know when you want to organize another ride.

You don’t see people meeting up in cars to go out riding. You don’t see people in cars waving to people they don’t know as they pass them. When you get a bike, it’s like you’re joining a big club, even if you aren’t officially in a biking club or community like the AMA. I’m really looking forward to doing stuff like this.
June 26, 2008 at 3:51 am #7863megaspazParticipantTo a lesser extent, mini cooper drivers are kinda the same way. A lot of the times when driving my mini cooper and passing other mini cooper drivers, I could get a wave and I wave back, or I wave and get a wave back. But yeh, mini cooper drivers don’t seem to do meet ups though… There’s a definate feeling of being a part of the motorcycling world when riding on the road. You’ll love it.

July 6, 2008 at 3:07 am #8413AmorylParticipantI’ve got a jeep Wrangler and we wave to each other most everywhere, except seattle…someone must have forgotten to send them the memo.
July 23, 2008 at 3:56 am #9151ShaneParticipantI’ve got a Ford Mustang and we give eachother the bird and cut eachother off.

July 23, 2008 at 11:57 pm #9193megaspazParticipantJay’s 7 feet tall and he kills men by the hundreds and if he were here, he’d consume the English with fireballs from his eyes, and bolts of lightning from his arse.
