Hi Nick,
Was the second course you took worth the trouble? I’ve been riding for about a week or 2000km – I wonder if I should take the skills course offered at through the organization where I took my original training. What did you get out of course two?July 21, 2010 at 2:57 am in reply to: To windshield or not to windshield – that’s the question. #27648Ursula AlusruParticipantI rode out to my bike friends toady to visit, drink tea, and eat toast and beans after I posted this this morning and wouldn’t you know it – they had windscreen that was on a GS500 hanging around in the garage. It’s medium sized and will fit, I just need something grippy and squishy to put between the brackets and the handlebars (the brackets are a bit too big). It kind of seems like it might do exactly as you said Gary856, and direct it all at my forehead, but I’ll try anything twice, so I’ll give it a shot and report back. I also made out with a new pair of boots – who knew that being pregnant makes your feat grow!? All in all it was a great day.
Ursula AlusruParticipantI had (well still have… passenger helmet?) a helmet that gave me a really bad pressure spot in the center of my fore head after about an hours ride – I took a lot of time to make sure that it fit properly before I bought it, and it felt great wearing it around the store, or even for a short ride. Many a rider told me to wear it for a while to break it in, or compress the form with my melon – I think someone even suggested that I rub it down with a baseball or a spoon – it just didn’t happen – the compressing of the foam! I rode occasionally with it as a passenger for several years and found that the sore spot lasted a couple of days after the ride – short hair, long hair, it didn’t matter. So, I bought a bike las week and after my first longish ride of 400km or so decided that I just couldn’t deal with it any more. I caved and bought a new one (and I didn’t spend a ton of money) which is SO MUCH BETTER! I think the old one just wasn’t the lid for me, and if I’d known how much better the new one feels I wouldn’t have waited all this time.
Good luck!Ursula AlusruParticipantI’m training for a half marathon, so I thought I was in pretty good shape! Apparently not the case. I’ve got muscles I didn’t even know I had! It definitely feels really physical and I’m sore in my arms and back after a good ride. I’ll get all over the parking lot in the evening once the cars clear out.
