ParticipantHi,
August ’09, I took the Rider’s Edge at a local Harley dealership and started shopping a short time later. Obviously, the local Harley dealership where I took the course pushed for my first bike to be a Harley. I just couldn’t wrap my mind around spening 10-12 grand on a new bike when I had no experience at all.
I ended up purchasing an ’07 Honda VT750DC April of this year and after and optional second course (I wanted to shake the rust off), I started putting some miles on it over the last month.
Hoping to get some guidance as I continue to gain experience.

ParticipantBeautiful bike Nick!! Post some pics so we can see her.
I too am a newbie, but this site is awesome. Lots of great folks on here willing to share their knowledge & expertise. Good choice on the Honda. I was in love with the Sportster 883XL.. but like you jus couldn’t pay that much $$$ on a first bike. I picked up a Virago 700 and so far so good (grant it, I’ve only had it 4 days) but it is awesome to just be out there.
Congrats again & welcome!!!!

ParticipantHi Nick,
Was the second course you took worth the trouble? I’ve been riding for about a week or 2000km – I wonder if I should take the skills course offered at through the organization where I took my original training. What did you get out of course two? -
