When you talk about your first street bike the new 08 or 09 ninja 250 is the bike you want! It looks better then most bikes on the street and the price is so low you can buy one brand new with out much work. It is very light with a low seat height so it handles great and a new rider can jump right on it.
Most people will not say anything bad about the bike other then the fact its only a 250cc bike which means it is slow…Well how fast does a new rider need to be going? The bike can go over 115mph!!! How fast does that loud pipe honda civic go? A person just starting off or someone that will just be riding around town you really dont need anything faster then that. With the low speed limit’s going faster the 115mph could cost you alot. The bike is made to ride on high rpm’s so as a new rider gets more time on the bike they can feel free to open it up and feel the peak power that comes when the bike is over 10k rpms.
0-60 in 5secs is very fast for most cars on the road so it funny when they say this bike is slow.
Overall i just would have to say if your going to start to learn how to ride and your worried about getting a bike to small and not wanting it after a few months go take a look at the new 09 ninja 250 and you will be shocked at how nice the bike looks. You can save your money while you learn on a very kool bike then later on down the road you can buy a 1000cc bike and ride around in 3rd gear all the time:-) for now go have some fun.
