I just took the MSF BRC course just a couple weeks ago with NO experience at all with bikes or manual transmission. I diddnt even know what a clutch was let alone how to use one. I was also a little intimidated the first day since the other people were not beginners and knew thier way around a bike. The instructors will take it real slow and if you dont understand something ask a question, they want you to ask and you paid for the right to do so.

I took the class it was a blast and you should have no problem passing the test. Everyone did in my class. One guy even failed and they let him take it again because of a new rule. Just relax and have fun.

Great post Matt. I really enjoyed it.

I just passed my MSF course and after riding a 250cc nighthawk, I feel pretty comfortable with buying a ninja with a 250cc engine.

Another good point to look at for us broke guys is the price comparisons. A used ninja I think will run you anywhere from 1500-2500, which is a hell of a lot cheaper than pretty much any other bike. I dont want to spend 4k+ and find out I cant handle or don’t like a more powerful bike. I would rather get a bargain on a 250 ninja and see where it takes me from there.

My uncle sent me this article when he found out I wanted to ride a motorcycle. A young inexperience rider on a super powerful bike, sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. Does anyone know if he was wearing any sort of gear or a helmet?

Well I passed the course on Friday. Overall it was a great experience. All I have to do now is scrap up enough cash to buy a bike. Wish me luck.

I am also a bit conflicted. I talked to a guy I know who has been riding for probably over 30 years. I told him I want to go for a low cc bike, he told me I shouldn’t worry about the cc’s and that the torque is more important to worry about. He told me I should find a bike that is comfortable and fits me rather than focusing on cc’s. What do you guys think?

I actually had a different problem, I cant take classes on saturday which are when they all are on. I finally found a class 2 hours away from my house from 9:30am-1:30pm Tuesday thru Friday. The drive sucks but I think its worth it. Keep trying, it took me a year to find this class.
