sounds pretty similar to my situation granted though that ive had some time in dirt riding. even so dirt is way different than street. went to my local dealer and sat on an 09 ninja 250 and its a nice sporty bike and actually seemed like a bigger displacement bike. im 5’6″ and about 140lbs but i research and research and research before i buy anything (my girlfriend hates it cause i do the same thing before we get her anything lol) also sat on a ninja 500 and loved it. not quite as sporty but the seat was great (though i was only on it for about a minute) but the bike for me just felt right. if i could have i would have taken that bike right then and there, sadly im just a poor college student lol. i know the ninja 500 is said to be a good commuter and i would agree you sit more upright so your back wont be as stiff when you get off. my girlfriend wants a shadow and i admit its a nice bike, sat on that one too cruisers just arent for me though.wouldnt go with a hyosung, i havent heard anything good about the company and talked to a guy who owns one and says he cant wait to get rid of it. he said they arent really well made and he is afraid it will just fall apart on him. personally the ninja 500 i feel is just an awesome ride, its got power, not necessarilly the coolest styling but itll do and good gas mileage about 49-51 mpg. this is all just my personal opinion but like i said before i sat on that 500 and it just felt right.

Thanks for the response, every little bit helps. I actually was looking at the sv650 and most of the opinions about Suzuki are from my dad. When the weather gets nice again I’m gonna hit my dealer up and see what I can test ride, seeing as how thats the only real way, I feel, that you can get a good measurement on a bike. But I’ve been riding a ktm 250 on dirt now for a few years, a lot more when I was younger. Sadly it just pooped out on me and instead of using the money to get it fixed I’ve turned my attention to street. 1. I dont have a car 2. My girlfriend has a car 3. Need a bike to go see my uncle in Cali so we can do a 1000 mile trip in 24 hours so I’ve been lookin at some that could make the trip. But hey thanks guys for responding.
