Just joined the site. Decided this weekend to get started and to do it right.
I’m 6.0′, 200 lbs., never been on anything other than a non-automatic moped (but drive a standard transmission car). About 30 y/o, live in downtown Charlotte, and looking for a commuter and something to keep me sane during weekends. Prefer sport to cruiser (aesthetically and w/r/t what I imagine (a Ducati, of course…)
Risk-averse attorney who tends to be overly cautious. Taking the safety course at CPCC, obviously. Will finish course before purchasing anything.
I know it isn’t the thread, so sorry if it’s not germane, but I must ask the age-old 250cc v. 500cc question. I’m not afraid of looking like a wimp on a 250, and though I have no desire to become a grease spot on Tryon St., I wouldn’t mind having a 500 to keep up with traffic on 277, etc. I’m cautious, but confident and most of the 200 lbs. is muscle, so I don’t know that I wouldn’t be able to control the bike.
Anything I should consider other than the ubiquitous 250cc Ninja? And does anyone have a retailer recommendation in the area?
