ParticipantHey, the forum page said I can't add new content so I figured I could ask here. I've been shopping around for motorcycles for about 5 years. Always loved the look, the sound, the feel on the back of one. Now I'm in a stable enough position that I can look to buy. I'd like to pay cash, but that's going to take a while to save up for what I'm really wanting. Anyway, I'm going full gear every time I ride because I like my skin and have seen in person exactly what happens when you wipe out in jeans and a t-shirt. Budget for gear is looking to be about 1000. I haven't been to my local Kawasaki dealership yet, but yesterday I went to my local Honda dealership and it looks like they have some 250, 300, and 500 cc bikes all in my price range. Supposedly Kawasakis go for a similar price.
I see the lower displacement ninjas (250, 300, and 500) recommended as the best beginner bikes EVERYWHERE. So my question is this: what would you say is the best one to go with? Should I just go with whichever one ends up being cheaper? Should I find one on craigslist (though my local CL is a wasteland for small bikes)? Any other tips? I've been through most of your site over the past few years.
