Today on my morning commute I was cruising at about 80mph in the fast lane when all of the sudden a girl on a ninja 250 passed me on the right! She gave a wave, but she must have been going 90 at least. Those little ninja’s can sure zoom around.

Not on a Ninja 250, but “someone I know” (cough) used to *lane-split* virtually stationary traffic at 90 occasionally (I know… Absolutely Fricking Crazy).

What brought me (er… him) to my (er… his) senses, was reading somewhere that:

THE BIGGEST DETERMINING FACTOR AS TO WHETHER YOU’LL LIVE OR DIE IN A MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT, IS THE SPEED YOU WERE GOING BEFORE THE CRASH.

That, and a punctured tire on the freeway (not a complete blow-out thankfully), persuaded me (er… him) to keep it (most of the time) legal, regarding speed.

    Dealing with guilt

Guilt can sometimes be remedied by punishment (a common action and advised or required in many legal and moral codes), by forgiveness (as in transformative justice), or by sincere remorse (as with confession in Catholicism or restorative justice). Guilt can also be remedied through cognition, the understanding that the source of the guilty feelings was illogical or irrelevant. Law does not usually accept the agent’s self-punishment, but some ancient codes did so: in Athens the accused was permitted to propose his or her own remedy, which might in fact be a reward, while the accuser proposed another, and the jury chose between. This forced the accused to effectively bet on his support in the community – as Socrates did when he proposed “room and board in the town hall” as his fate. He lost, and drank hemlock, a poison, as advised by his accuser.

Lmao, I just found this thread so random for some reason.

Awesome to know that there are female riders out there. 98% of the time, it’s usually a guy riding it, and it gets annoying. Like, where are the ladies?

Oh, and I hope you waved back too.

I’ve been paying a lot more attention to motorcycles lately (I’ve always been aware of them, but recently developed an interest in having one, resulting in me looking at a lot more of them on the roads) and I’ve been seeing a LOT of women on cruisers lately. I’m not sure if it’s just that I’ve been paying more attention to the motorcycles (other than to make sure I don’t hit them) lately, or if there’s a sudden upsurge of female riders. either way, it’s a pretty cool sight. though I coulda done without the pair of biker chicks coming out of the gas station with a 40oz each in the plain paper bag, slam em down while straddling their bikes, and then hitting the road sans helmet. not to mention just dropping the empty can and bag next to their bikes rather than throwing them away in the trash can 7 feet away.
