hi there,
I’m new to this website and motorcycles. I’m intersted in learning to ride one i.e. i’m looking into taking a class, etc and knowing all the intricacies involved with motorcycle riding (the good and bad). With gas hitting $4.54/gal (in south san francisco), i’m looking into learning and hopefully becoming an accomplished rider, so i want to learn the right way. I’ve been reading some reviews regarding some beginner bikes, and have looked into some of the manufacturers websites. Does anyone have an opinion on the Yamaha TW200 or XT250? would it be a good bike to start with?? I read the reviews on the Ninja 250 and found it very informative. Have any newbies purchased this bike, and what are your feelings bout it. Like I said, I’m very new to this, but hope to enjoy the ride, and I’m glad there are sites like this available.
thanks for your time..

I’m afraid I don’t know anything about the two bikes you mentioned here. I’ve researched the V-Star 250 by Yamaha and the Rebel and Nighthawk 250’s by Honda. I decided early on that cruiser/standard was more my style.

But the MSF instructor kept telling it was a good little bike. It did corner just great, and in the accident avoidance swerve it was fantastic. And now that I think about it, I would like to tear up a trail on that thing. So I guess I really did like it. Sorry if I am not much help.
