I’m 6’4″ tall and about 230 pounds…what starter bike would be best for me? I’m not looking to have the bike for a long time, just till I feel comfortable enough to go to a 600cc, and whenever I get the money for it too. With that said I’m not looking for a new bike, something old that works well. I do want a sportbike though, I have sat on a couple, and really like the body position.
Thx for all of the help!!!!!!

Other options could be:
Buell Blast (492cc)
Hyosung GT124R (Import)
Hyosung GT250
Suzuki GS500F
United Motors V2S-250 (Import?)
Aprila RS125 (Import)
Cagiva Mito 125 (Import)
Derbi GPR 125 (Import)
Honda XL125V Varadero (Import)
Honda CBR125R (Import)
Kymco KR Sport (125cc, Import)Unfortunately, a lot of these imports are not found in the States (or Canada I believe). Rather unfortunate ‘cos it would be fun to train and have a 125cc to practice with, or just to do small commutes. But that’s just my opinion.

Yes I know it’s an inline 4 600cc, but it’s not a bad starter bike as it’s a real pussycat below 5k rpm. I really love mine. It’s as comfortable as can be, and it’ll keep me entertained for a long time to come.

(One thing they get wrong in this review is saying that the FZ6R is just a full faired version of the FZ6, it’s not. Don’t let the FZ6 forum guys hear you say that they are the same)April 20, 2009 at 9:47 pm #17892WesParticipantI agree with big guy. The FZ6R 600 is a really good entry level commuter bike. I plan on getting one myself. If you go to the Yamaha Website it says its like 7 grand or something like that but I went to the dealer and it was only 6 grand and I’m sure I could have talked him down. Just check out your local Yamaha dealer and see how much they are charging.
