V&H Cruzer Pipes or 3 hole mod?

    Hey guys

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and enjoying the upcoming holidays.

So I am debating on whether to drop a couple hundred on a set of new V&H Cruzer pipes or just save the money and do the 3-hole exhaust mod.

    1. Has anyone done the 3-hole mod? What were your thoughts?
    2. Anyone install any slip on pipes like the V&H Cruzers? Thoughts?

The more I research the more I may just drop the money and have a set of V&H cruzers installed but just wanted to get some opinions/suggestions from anyone with the experience….

    Thanks

You just trying to make your bike louder? Or is there some other benefit that’s supposed to come from this? I find I can’t hear the engine once I get over 50 mph anyway, because of the wind noise. And I’ve got no faith that anybody else on the road will hear my bike no matter how loud it is. With radios, ipods and road noise there’s no reason to believe they’ll hear a thing.

We dont have such strict laws in Texas….

And yes I want my bike to sound much deeper and more cruiser like. I also take it there is a slight performance upgrade by adding V&H pipes.

Go with the V&H … .if you’re not good at turning wrenches or heck even if you are… I would highly recommend professional install. Main reason…… warranty. As far as upgrading exhaust…no other mods forward of that will be necessary. In cars sometimes you need a certain set up due to the engine being tuned to having to use some of the back pressure. Motorcycles, I could be wrong, but am highly doubtful its required, with maybe the exception of the single piston pumpers.
With mods remember from the mod back needs changing… seeing your changing the arse end of the cycle… your good. More to remember… if your getting it in you have to get it out…. meaning if you had gotten that RAM air deal you would need a more free flowing exhaust anyways. Since your only doing the pipes…. well imagine blowing through a coffee straw…now using same volume of air and pressure (yes they are different) and blow through say a McD’s straw. Your still getting the same thing out. Less restriction in the bigger straw though. For you the major difference will be the sound. The V&H have the baffles set up to give you a certain sound. Drill out processes only make them louder. Its the difference of say sounding like Hog (bike kind) and a pissed off lawnmower.
    My votes the V&H!!

LOL so Elwood – which part of the website caught your fancy? They do really have some good pricing and there is even a tall biker section for you – not much though.

I read there was minimal tweaking on the bike with the V&H and they are considered “slip-on”. Maybe some rejetting but no engine tuning. Yea I will probably try to get the dealer to add them….but man $400 for pipes is steep plus installation labor.
Probably will wait till after the holidays to get them.

Here is a close up of the bags

LEO here will ticket loud pipes on sport bikes but not on cruisers. As a Ninja owner it’s good to know the local bias.

Thank the squids for that one. Its partially of what made me dislike sport bikes earlier in my life… some dumas squid cruising in front of the high school winding out 1st or 2nd tryin to sound cool and going maybe 15 mph. Or worse popping up in front of traffic to try and show their extreme stupidity.

I am over most of my bias now…. but its slow going as the responsible ones on here and many like y’all are outnumbered near 3 to 1 here (squid to responsible).
Watched a kid today as a matter of fact gun it at neck jerk acceleration to try and beat a yellow light.

So I am going with the Punisher theme and got this etched headlight decal.

On the list of to-do mods not in any order:
    1. V&H Cruzer Pipes ~ $400 to $500 (w install)
    2. Quarter windshield ~$150
    3. LED Lights assembly ~$100-200 (w install)
    4. Hypercharger kit ~ $300-500 (w install)

    Sigh …need the money lol

On another note I just added some saddlebags last night. They are 100% cowhide leather $45 from Jafrum.com.
