Transitioning from Dirt Bike to Sportbike

I submitted a previous post called “Learning to Ride a Street Bike”.

I guess that wasn’t the best choice of Titles because the discussion sort of veered off into other topics, like how powerful a bike is best for a beginning rider, etc. All of which was good and informative, but not actually what I was hoping to hear from some other riders about.

What I’m really interested in is finding out from people who transitioned from dirt bikes to Sportbikes whether they found that to be problematic and if they have any thoughts or suggestions about making the transition.

In particular, I’m concerned about steering a sportbike. Seems to me there’s a fundamental difference between how that works on a dirtbike as opposed how it does on a sportbike.

I would really like to hear from other riders who have made the switch and what advice they might have about making the transition.

    Thanks.

My sister is a competitive dirt bike racer and every time she sits on my street bike she squawks about how leaned over the position is, how stretched out she is, blah blah. It will feel different to you, without a doubt, but you know where the clutch/throttle shifter is and that goes a long way towards shortening the learning curve.
It’s like riding a road bike vs. a mountain bike. They’re very different but I can do both.
