I’m in IL and it’s going to hit 70 today and tomorrow before diving in temp and getting wet. Conditions I don’t ride in. I will need gas today but I’m unsure if I should just fill up as usual. If I do and then the weather stays bad I may need to winter the bike with whatever is in the gas tank. I can add some stabilizer but I’m not sure if you can have too much gas sitting there?
I won’t stop riding till I have too. If we get some ok afternoons in November I can go home for lunch and ride back in. I’m leaning towards filling her up unless that’s a bad idea.

If you are going to really put it away for the winter then fill the tank up and add seafoam or sta-bil or whatever. Also, drain the floats, change oil, lube cyclinders, etc, etc. If it was me, I would just warm the bike up every now and then and take it out around the block if the weather permits.

Here’s a GREAT guide for storing your bike for the winter: http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Trailers.html#Storage
I quote from that site “Gasoline oxidizes as it ages. This produces varnish as a byproduct, which is bad for carburetor jets and fuel injector outlets. To avoid this use a fuel stabilizer. Add the amount recommended on the bottle in the tank and fill the tank completely with gasoline – a full gas tank won’t rust internally. Run the engine for a couple minutes to warm up the engine oil and to get the stabilizer into your carbs/fuel injectors. “
Hope that helps.

You are suppose to have a full gas tank when you winterize your bike and then you add stabilizer. So fill er up and get riding before it turns cold and rainy on Thursday!
