ParticipantI just finished a 15 mile ride on my new ’08 ninja 250r. I can’t tell you how enjoyable this bike is. I’m a beginner and it’s my first bike. After finding this forum and reading all the useful information I decided to go with the ninja. The decision to go with the ninja wasn’t easy (I really wanted the Triumph Bonneville or Suzuki SV650), but I can clearly see why many people suggest starting small and on the ninja. As I was riding today, I ran into a few exciting encounters: I live in SF, and a gust of wind came making my bike go in a direction I didn’t want to go! I was at an intersection and the car didn’t see me, luckily I was expecting that. There were a few turns that I didn’t negotiate properly. All these encounters on my first ride, but luckily I was on a bike that I didn’t’ feel will kill me and kept it under control at all times. It’s very easy to see, but difficult to describe why this small bike just makes learning motorcycling fun and easy. Thanks for everyone’s input…..this website rocks!

ParticipantDude! I rode into SF today with a friend around the Van Ness street area. We were at the dainese store around noonish, then went to get some grub at a mexican restaurant around 1:30 ish a parallel block up or two intersecting fell ave. and then we went to a friend’s bbq on golden gate ave. I wonder if I saw you riding around in the myriad of bike riders that seemed to have sprung up in SF since the last time I was there…
anyhoo congrats on your first city ride… twas actually my first sf city ride as well…
Edit: Doh! brainfart… I saw the date on your post and thought it was today’s date. Oh well, i still wonder if you might’ve been riding around SF today…

around, I want it caught and shot now…June 8, 2008 at 10:21 pm #7144Ben
ParticipantAwesome Mrvyas!
It’s glad to know you’ve survived your first ride, I hope that trend continues long into the future. The first time you go over a bridge is going to be very exciting, the only time I’ve almost been blown into another lane was when I was riding on the Dumbarton bridge.
Bridges = WINDY!!!!
Ride safe.

ParticipantYou’re one of the few people that won’t choose ego over safety. Its a good thing. Congrats on your bike! Glad you’re happy with it, wish there were more people with common sense like you.
