I am hearing a strange rattling noise around 3k RPM on my SV650S. 500RPM higher or lower and it’s gone. It exists in gear and in neutral. I just bought this bike on Monday, so I am cautious with any noises I hear. My only thought is a loose cam chain. I’ve been doing some research and it might be the valve clearance too. It just sounds…unnatural, like a loose bolt would rattle, so I wanted to see what you guys could come up with before I take her to the shop.

Just do a major walk through of all parts and plastics. The vibration at that RPM could be just right to make a rattle then go away as the vibration increase in frequency. If nothing comes up you should already have an appointment anyway.
