Was happen people? Technically not a rider yet, since my parents are up my ass about not getting my moto license and a bike, but I will.

I’m 19 with not much money, and was thinking of getting a 250R. Would it be better to get it used at around ~$3999, I think it’s a 2008 model. How much do you think insurance would be? Thanks.

    welcome!

insurance cost on a ninja 250 is one of the nice things about having that for a first bike. I still think $3999 used for a ninja 250 is way overpriced. Heck, technically, i think what the dealers were selling the new ninja 250s were pretty overpriced. Look for an older used ninja 250. You should be able to find one for around 2k or less.

    $3999 is the MSRP of a brand-spanking-new-off-the-crate 2009 Ninja 250R.

So first of all, let me say that paying ~$3,999 for a USED 2008 250R is a maaaaaajjooorrrr rip. For a used 2008, I’d expect to pay no more than 3,000.

As for insurance, it’s ridiculously cheap. I just quoted Geico for a 2008 Ninja 250R, and it’s $339 for a 12-month premium. That’s only the basic coverage though, and assuming you took MSF and have a Lo-Jack installed. (which you should have done both). That’s like $29 a month!

Anyways, best of luck to ya.
