ParticipantAlright, so, a couple months ago we moved into a place that has a garage (YAY!) but a gravel driveway leading up to it (BOO!). I’ve been having a somewhat difficult time driving on loose gravel at extremely low speeds pilling out of my driveway without stalling the bike out. I can’t start the way I normally start on roads without fear of launching loose rocks at my mom’s car or losing traction on the loose gravel. It requires a lot more precision on the clutch than I’m used to and I’m having a hard time grasping it. Does anyone else have any similar troubles?

ParticipantAs a general rule, I won’t ride on loose gravel, unless I’m walking it.
Not since a loose gravel road caused awesome pitting in my rear tire. I got new rubber and I’d like to keep it that way.

ParticipantClutch, throttle , rear brakes…. use all of em to get you through. Clutch to keep the wheel spin in check, throttle to keep engine speed in check and rear brakes to help stabilize the bike at low speed and minimise a front wheel skid drop.

ParticipantSame problem for me, and it is just like Munch says. I’ve just been duck walking and slow racing it like they teach in class. It sounds like my gravel may be better packed than your though; I haven’t had any problems with kicking things up.
