Is this only an Ohio thing?
Drive down the main drag in the evening/night, and there’s different groups of 3-4 young guys on sports bikes standing around talking in the parking lot of fast food places, in the part of the parking lot with the most street viability. Different guys and bikes everytime.
Does actual riding ever take place? What’s the deal?

The coffee shop at the other end of town gets a fair amount too, but it isn’t so much hanging out in the parking lot. Mostly middle aged guys who go in to talk with the owner, who is a preacher and a biker.

I’m assuming it was just a break from a ride. Since they can’t talk while they’re riding like you’d be able to in a car, I guess. I’m sure it’s also to show off their bikes though.

I tend to hang out at some left turn red-lights…..damn bastards. I had to sit through one for 3 cycles before I could get in the other lane to make a right and turn around…..

They seem nice enough, though the 5-0 always keeps a sharp eye on ’em cuz it’s easier to harass kids than solve real crimes.
June 25, 2009 at 12:16 pm #20176Clay DowlingParticipantWhile they’re in the parking lot than while they’re shooting down the highway at 120mph. And any cop worth his donut is going to realize that’s what they’re planning to do. Since public safety is their job, that makes sense.

June 25, 2009 at 3:05 pm #20185bigguybbrParticipantThey all hang out on the Berlin turnpike at the MCDonalds with all the Honda Civic kids who think the Fast & Furious deserved an Oscar.
The turnpike is a big drag hangout as it is close to Hartford, dead straight, has a 50mph speed limit, has traffic lights every half mile or so to line up at, and is dead smack center in the state off all the major highways.
Incidentally it’s a big police hang out these days too…

July 16, 2009 at 4:46 am #20665amandaParticipantTokyo Drift was the best film ever made.
July 16, 2009 at 4:50 am #20666amandaParticipantThere’s a sweet little biker bar down the street from me that the cruisers hang out at. Only cruisers… I’m pretty sure if I ever took my “sportbike” in there, I’d be dragged out behind someone’s Harley… Saw a Spyder there once and never again. Wendy’s is the sportbike and rice-burner hangout here.. also we have this sweet deal called “Hot Imports Night” that travels around Chicago (and suburbs) that attracts that oh so fancy group of U-25’s with their lifetime earnings invested in their Civic’s exhaust noise.
