Hey Guys,
I know it probably doesn’t matter to most of you since you all have accounts, but I’ve recently chosen to make commenting dissabled if you are not logged into BBM. The spam has just gotten a tad bit out of control, so I’m hoping this will fix it.
Thanks again to MegaSpaz who has been super on top of the spam destruction. Right now he is the only forum/site moderator besides myself and he is keeping a great eye on things. Also thanks to Munch for pointing out that one spam message on an article.

Unfortunately there is always opportunists out there other wise known as parasites that see a good thing that’s getting a lot of hits and try to hijack it. Automated software and “permissions” help but the community will give you better real time coverage and can get past the so-called mispelling of words that can by pass the measures you take.
My call is to all BBM members to take the time to look things over as much as you can. Even if it’s not on a page that you have posted on before or even care about the particular bike, skill being discussed. Ben has helped a lot of new riders such as myself by keeping them informed and off dangerous bikes for their first rides. Why not return the favor by helping him and Mega by browsing as much as you can and messaging either one if not both as to where the offending post is. I know I have done this and likely others have to.
Give ’em hell!March 2, 2009 at 4:31 pm #16847Clay DowlingParticipantI’ve had really good luck with the Akismet module. The nature of some of my sites requires anonymous commenting, and Akismet dealt well with the crap-flooding I was getting. I would get a few hundred spam messages in a day, and Akismet made them all die. Or almost all. Every now and then I have to train it on a new batch.
