Alright my name is Anthony, im almost 20 years old and a resident of palm beach county in south florida. By the end of may this year i hope to have a brand new 2008 Ninja 250r. It is going to by my first motorcycle. I am of course going to buy the full gear and get the endorsement before i buy the bike. Its good because I would be able to ride the bike year round, due to the fact that south florida never gets cold lol
One question for everyone is that I may want to use the bike once a week on a 100 mile round trip ride to school. its about 45 miles each way and i need to take the interstate which the speed limit is 65-70mph.
Im 5’11-6 foot tall and i weigh about 175 lbs. When i went and sat on the bike it was very comfortable to me. The only question is that could the bike handle the 45 min one way trip at 65mph? I generally dont speed and if i do its only 5mph at max over the speed limit. I just dont want to put too much strain on the motor.
I do plan on keeping the bike for atleast 2 years before moving up to a zx6r or a gsxr600. I do plan on doing a full yoshi exhaust system and maybe a smaller rear sprocket down the line.
Thanks in advance for all your help, this site has been so helpful to me and i finally decided to join it
thanks!

Speeding on a bike is a different story from speeding in a car. It’s 25 times easier to speed on a bike than a car. You just twist the throttle (to pass a car or something) and next thing you know you’re at 60mph at a 45mph zone. Becareful and be safe.
See ya out on the road.

I drive from fremont to san jose which is about 45 minutes with traffic and here is what I recommend:
1. Don’t carry anything on your back! Whenever I carry something on my back (violin/backpack/etc..) I get tired of riding about twice as fast as usual. I would recommend getting a tank bag or tail bag if you need to carry some stuff with you while riding a longer distance.
2. Speeding. Speeding is much easier to do on a bike, in fact I recommend that you do it I have heard that it is actually safer if you are always going about 5mph faster than the rest of the traffic, that way most of your obstacles and worries are to concentrated in front of you instead of behind. I tend to agree with that train of thought to a degree, sometimes the traffic here can all be cruising at 80+mph so you have to weigh the benefits of a little increased safety with a big ticket from the cops.
In the end though I would try and travel at a speed you are comfortable with, whether that be 55, 65, or 85 (and the ninja can handle all of those speeds)
