Hello All –
I’ve been snooping around for quite some time taking in all the great info. I just bought an ’05 Suzuki GS500f a couple days ago. I am taking the MSF class in a few weeks, but have been taking her out around the neighborhood to get some practice. I have a lot of questions and am looking forward for everyone’s advice.

I have the same bike and I do like it a lot, although, sadly, it’s been in the garage more than it’s been out. How’d you figure on getting the GS500?

And I’ll be the someone offering an opinion. I’m such a newb.

I narrowed my choices down to the GS and the ninja 500. I don’t like the dated look of the ninja so I was leaning more towards the GS. I scoured the local ads and craigslist and found this 05. It only had <1300 miles and was completely clean, no scratches and never been down. The guy was asking for $4K, but I got him down to $3300. He also had the extended warranty till 2011!!!
I think I got a great deal.

Wow. Awesome. You must have used a jedi mind trick or something. I think I did okay myself. I just bought an 07 with <800 miles, never dropped for $3800. I'm still waiting for my helmet to arrive so I'm just going around my subdivision and to a parking lot. I probably shouldn't say that here though 😮

Congrats on the bike. I pretty much have all my gear, just need to find some riding boots that I like. I got all my stuff from newenough.com. They got great prices and the shipping is fast. I’ve just been riding around my neighborhood after work.
I might hit up a parking lot this weekend to practice. Still have a few weeks till the msf class.
