This is pretty impressive.
Put a 1000cc engine in there and away you go!
April 22, 2010 at 9:01 am #25897eternal05ParticipantNow easier than ever, thanks to Honda!
No in all seriousness, that’s pretty sweet technology. It reminds me of a totally fanciful engineering project I attempted while in college that…well…didn’t turn out nearly so well (obviously). I do have to wonder if, like the Segway, it’s really more of an engineering feat and less a practical application. Do you know if Honda actually plans to produce these at any reasonable scale?
April 22, 2010 at 3:13 pm #25899eonParticipantI doubt there is any plan to produce these, I’m thinking it’s more of an R&D project for them. But this is just speculation on my part. Have to confess I had visions of *ahem*, slightly rotund people gliding round Wally World on these.
April 22, 2010 at 3:31 pm #25900SantaCruzRiderParticipantI have to confess that my mind went there too — shame on me. But judging my the models used in the video, the beta probably has a 90 lb weight limit.
This could have some really cool applications for folks with disabilities. For road applications, I’d hate to consider the cost of replacing those tires –
Cool post Eon
April 22, 2010 at 6:02 pm #25906eonParticipantIt was when they were gliding around looking at pictures that image came to me. Reminded me of the Wall-E movie. Other thought that came to me was the Harley bashing thread on here. When you look at what Honda are doing, research for the sake of expanding knowledge, can’t help but think they will be better placed to adapt to changing times and markets than others.
April 23, 2010 at 1:56 am #25925owlieParticipantThat is pretty sweet. But I think I like walking.
April 23, 2010 at 4:41 am #25926SantaCruzRiderParticipantBut then how do you explain the Honda Fury?
April 23, 2010 at 5:46 am #25927eonParticipantWas that the chopper bike? Didn’t look too bad to me, but then I’m not into those kind of bikes so I don’t know why it didn’t take off. More confusing was the DN-01 but at least they are trying new things. They are not afraid to fail which I like. If they stuck with tried and tested would they ever have progressed beyond super sport bikes?
April 23, 2010 at 9:11 am #25930eternal05ParticipantAfter analyzing its sales, Honda’s looking to make two more trim variants of the Fury, at least according to some press release I read. Somebody must have liked it.
April 23, 2010 at 9:12 am #25931eternal05ParticipantWall-E is exactly what I had in mind
April 23, 2010 at 3:04 pm #25937EddiepowerfmParticipantsaw a DN-01 on the highway this morning. Took me by surprise.
