ParticipantI’m shopping for a leather jacket – something aesthetically low-key but good protection. (No bright colors, big logos, etc.)
I’m interested in the Firstgear Scout and the Shift Vantage. Does anyone own either of these jackets, or have any personal experiences to comment on?
(I have spent a lot of time researching, have read pretty much all there is to read about either jacket, and know that they’re pretty different and what the differences are. So I’m mostly asking for personal experiences.)

ParticipantI’ve done research on both models as I like the idea of a low-key plain black leather jacket that can double as a casual wear jacket in winter when the bike is put away. That being said, I personally feel that SHIFT gear is way overpriced for what you get. It’s not bad, but their pricing puts them on a level where they’re effectively competing with super-high-end brands like RS Taichi and Alpinestars, when they are most certainly NOT at that level. Feature-wise it is a plain black leather jacket.
Firstgear merchandise I have had experience with (though not that exact jacket) and their quality is awesome. The Scout leather jacket has a number of features you won’t find on the SHIFT jacket including superior ventilation and weatherproofing capabilities. The choice to me is clear. But it’s all on you, man.
