Glad to hear that you are okay. Thanks for sharing the story with us. Too often it seems like the stories are about all the things that went wrong, but don’t really reinforce how things work when we apply the skills.
+1 on sticking around and dealing with the cops. It makes it so much easier when there is a witness to help sort out the stories. About 10 years ago, I had someone run a red light in front of me. The only reason it wasn’t my word against hers was that there was another driver who could coraborate my story.

most everyone is a distracted driver. texting is just as bad as anything else- personally I think there are ways to multitask and mitigate risk- but it’ll never be safe.
and I’m a textaholic- I text more than I talk. I work in a job thats difficult to talk at due to noise levels…
my roommate/best friend works for the miliatary and she can’t pick up her phone.
I don’t check voicemail I don’t like checking it…. text is way more convinenent… I do call people and I have friends who would rather talk- but its just whats easiest for my life. When I was dating my last, we were 4 hours apart and it was just easier- but we tried to talk on the phone at almost every day cause we texted throughout the day… but we always tried to talk. Shrug it needs to be balanced with real human interaction.
