Scorpion EXO-1000 Helmet?

Went to the bike shop with my buddy who’s lookin’ to get a Ninja 650, and start him in the path of a helmet before he gets his bike. He budgeted aprox $300 for a helmet.

Tried on a few Shoei, and found them to fit OK.

I pointed him to the EXO-1000 and he said it fit better than the Shoei’s did.

I kinda like the flip-up sunshades. I know I had a bear of a time straining to see with the setting sun in my eyes, and that’d be perfect. Why worry about changing between a dark faceshield during the day, and a clear one at night?

The only thing I thought was bizzare is the flip-lock on the face-shield? Why?

the flip lock, or the little lever that pushes the visor up just a touch for air flow?

I’ve got one myself and love it. The flip lock on the visor is to lock the visor open just a crack so you can get some fresh air without the wind slamming the visor closed while riding at speed. It’s a nice touch. I think it’s more useful when I’m in stop and go traffic and don’t have the wind cooling me. As for the flip down tinted visor it’s not too bad for what it is. I prefer it to having to change the lens every time it gets dark or light out. The vents on the forehead, chin bar, and crown of the helmet that passes through to rear vents do a good job of moving air over the interior of the helmet and keeping you cool. As for the cheek pads ability to inflate via a pump built into the chin bar I’d say it’s up to personal opinion. I like the more fitted feel it gives and the added bonus of keeping more air from rushing in underneath in the colder mornings. It’s only downside I can see is it IS heavier than some of your other helmets of comparable price. Otherwise it’s a pretty solid helmet for a fair price. I’ve got about 1400 miles with it and I’d recommend it to others.
