Saddle Bags!

In my rides, I’ve been wanting to stop at the store to pick up a few things on the way home.
But there lies a problem — the 03 Ninja 250 doesn’t have much room under the seat.
The Ninja 250 forum says that the Chase Harper Stealth Saddlebag is a good pick.
Any comments?
I know I can’t fit a shopping cart full of groceries in a saddlebag, but it would be nice to fit a icepack wrapped around a Poweraide for longer rides, or maybe lunch for work and a soda (yes, riding to work will most likely be starting soon.)
Once I get up the courage and feel confident on the interstate, I might make a trip across the state to visit a buddy of mine. I figure anything that is not clothes goes in the saddle bag, and clothes (soft) goes in the backpack on my back. Sound like a plan?

Definitly felt drawn to some luggage after americade and seeing all the bikes rearin’ to go out on the road for long stretches with all their gear packed on. Just remember to balance up your load so you don’t throw the bike off, and make sure you check your weight limitations on the bike depending on your size and the weight of what you are carrying so that you don’t exceed them and take any required actions outlined in your manual.
Also with back packs, i find that ones that have a clasp that goes across the chest helps to take a little strain off of my shoulders durring long rides.

The backpack isn’t anything designed for a motorcycle, but it has the chest strap and the “hip” strap (really more like a stomach strap if you wear your backpack at a proper height). Next will be a tail bag, and finally saddle bags. I figure I want to keep everything in line with me as long as possible, because anything off to the side will increase drag. So that’s why saddle bags are last on my list.
I ride a Ninja 650R, if that matters. I have a Rapid Transit magnetic tank bag that I’m quite happy with. I’m looking into the Cortech tail and saddle bags, but I haven’t actually gone to look at them, so I don’t know if they’re as good as they seem online. The Nelson Rigg mentioned above looks pretty cool too.

No windage, no increase in bike width, stays clean, easy on/off. Only downside is making sure my leg clears it on mount/dismount.

Just like seeing a milk crate on a scooter in college, some things just should not be done.

“I like your tail bag… It’s real big.”
“Did you ever take that thing off any sweet jumps?”

He’s on what looked like an R1 or R6 (the light was turning green, and I was more focused on what I’m about to tell you than what he was riding). He was wearing Teva’s, shorts, helmet and riding jacket (what’s the point of the jacket if his balls are ripped off when he lays it down?). He’s got a HUGE box in his left hand (yes, he’s shifting without the clutch, idiot). The box is about 3 feet long, 12 inches wide, and 1-1.5 feet tall. He’s just got it resting on his leg and holding it with his arm.
Other than the fact that he’s speeding up to 60, but he has almost no gear (seriously, sandals?? My toes would be hating me!). He’s shifting his bike with no clutch! It’s one thing if your clutch goes out, but just to take some huge ass box home? Why couldn’t he buy some tie downs and uhm maybe tie the box to the pax seat? Or ask the store to hold it while you go get a car or a ride (or the bus even). Or better yet, just wait to buy the damn thing (I have no idea what was in the box by the way).
I was like WTF?
