Riding with one or two fingers on brake lever: for or against?

    I don’t think engine braking itself’s a bad thing. My bad thing is that I’d only use engine braking and not the brakes going into turns. With the SV650S, you don’t even have to downshift to get good slow down. All you have to do is to close the throttle below neutral throttle but don’t completely chop it and the bike will pull and slow down quite a bit. ABS helps on the trail braking part as well. I haven’t actually activated the circuitry when trail braking though, so that’s a good thing.

    Me personally, I do engine braking coming to stops as well for the same reason of I like how that engine sounds when engine braking. ^_^

    I use engine braking when going down a hill at low speeds.

    the hill you see behind me in that pic is one I have to go down everyday when pulling into my driveway and it is MUCH steeper in real life than it looks in that pic. I downshift into first gear and use engine braking when going down that hill because at the bottom where it ends it goes straight into my driveway.

    yea same.. before stops i just cut off gas and let the bike go w/o down shifting… VROOOOOMMMMMMMmmmmmm..mm.mm….m..m ……………VROOOOM..VROOOMM( am at the stop light :P )

    yeah kewl to hear it rumble ey…you have stock or aftermarket exhaust? hear some backfireing while doing so? btw 1st isn’t..kind of risky for the engine? well anyways 4T withstand most of rider’s crap (not you but the squids)…
