There are bike spots at my office that everyone backs into and I tried last night when no one was there. I didn’t end up where I thought I would. Does anyone have any tips or is just a practice makes perfect deal.

best advice I’ve ever gotten, “never pet a burning dog” you may not think it’s very helpful here, but it’s good advice everywhere!

so where DID you end up? china?

Matt’s right, man, practice makes more perfecter….practice makes perfectness….er….practice makes perfect! yes!

a few of different ways to back a bike in depending on where motorcycle parking is. One is a full on slow turn away from the spot about a lanes length and to walk the bike backwards into the slot. need to be careful on this. You can wait for oncoming traffic to pass by and friction-zone/power walk the bike away from the slot and back it in. You’ll want to stop the bike a slot or 2 before the slot you want to park into if you do this. Or you can go past the slot a bit and wiggle backwards into the slot. If slot’s not going downhill to the curb and pretty level, just park the bike forward. Or you can park the bike forward and use the kickstand as a pivot and rotate the bike on the kickstand which i wouldn’t recommend, but people do it.

What!? ….seriously… I would have to see that… and contain my need for a stiff breeze to come by at a perfect moment just for my sheer comic relief. Ofcourse then I would go help and pick it up. But a pivot …on a kickstand…. not my vulcan…. not without previously uttering the words “You won’t like me when I am angry”

It is real easy to do this with a center stand. I mean really easy.

Heard a Buick at 30 mph can help ya with it to…. though…. stopping at the 180 mark might be a challenge.

The guy I bought the bike from used the center stand to swivel the bike to put air in the tires. It looked easy but I haven’t tried it myself.
