More silly questions… Which might help in answering some things as I write up a silly thing…
Here in Chicago, we have a variety of motorcycle training centres/schools, both public (State) and privately run. And of course you have the friends teaching friends too, I’m sure which isn’t really beneficial.
Near me are two different training centres.
Ride Chicago – http://www.ride-chicago.com/
Motorcycle Riding School – http://www.motorcyclelearning.com/index.htmlNow both of them offer training (class and behind-the-wheels), both differ in pricing (although one does offer a small discount which makes it nicer), and both say completion of their courses will offer the trainee the opportunity to save money with their insurance.
Considering how funding is these days, how does one choose properly? Even checking with YELP.com, it’s hard to decide which to go from.
And Insurance. Which one does give good discounts? Or should I ask, which ones should be avoided?
I know there’s quite a few pricing schemes in the UK, based on the type of bikes, size and such.
Not sure if the Stateside insurance folks do the same thing or not.February 27, 2009 at 5:08 am #16767briderdtParticipantAMA membership — discount.
MSF course — discount.
License endorsement — discount.Along with that we have 3 other vehicles and a home owner’s policy… The two motorcycles (my ’05 SV650s and my wife’s ’08 C50) only added $85 a month (full coverage, $500 deductible).

February 28, 2009 at 3:42 am #16785PhilUpParticipantGeico gave me the lowest quote as well. Plus, they have added discounts on Kawasakis, if you are into that sort of thing.
February 28, 2009 at 4:16 am #16792KellisanthParticipantOh! Geico’s Kawasaki friendly eh? m/ o/ Woot! I didn’t know that.
I’m going to assume that discounts don’t stack eh? (RoK, AMA, MSF, etc).
I’ll keep this info in mind then, thanks!

At the end of our MSF class we took a test and if we passed we were done except for the written test. Those two schools both look like you take the class and have to come back for the test.
I looked at the MSF Web site and their listing for Chicago is run by MOTORCYCLE RIDER PROGRAM.
