ParticipantI’m thinkinga bout buying a cruiser as my first street bike. I’ve riden dirt bikes since I was 16, but back then I wasn’t 6′ 3″ tall. I’d like to start out on a 250 for a lot of reasons, but price is the biggest factor. The Rebel, I’ve heard, isn’t a good option for someone my height and I don’t like sport bikes. Any thoughts on a good cruiser-style 250 that can fit someone like me? Thanks!

ParticipantYou might take a look at the Hyosung GV250 (or the United Motors 250T, same bike). My wife has one and it’s a little larger than most of the other 250’s (such as the rebel, nighthawk, vstar, etc). She’s had this one for getting close to a year and has had no problems with it at all. However, since they’re relatively new to the US market, I’d personally only recommend getting a new one if you have a reputable dealer & service center in your area. And that being said, being 6’3″, you might sitll be cramped on it. Would something like a Vulcan 500 be out of your price range?

ParticipantNot necessarily. The Alpha Sports 250 (I think its the same as the Hyosung) is good and might fit me. There was an article in a motorcycle mag not long ago about how it would fit 6′ 2″ so maybe I’ll check that out. I like the Vulcan too but not a new one. I’d need to find a used one.
