Hello all.
I just discovered this site and thought I should join up. I am 35 yrs old and live outside of Cleveland, Ohio. After years of dreaming, but not knowing how to get started, I discovered the MSF course and took it last year. It has taken me nearly a year but I have convinced the wife I won’t make her a widow and leave our three children without a father. It’s also taken that long to sort out the finances. Last week I bought a helmet and gloves and today I am driving down to Pittsburgh to take a look at a 2004 Honda Nighthawk 250 with only 99 miles on it.
While I appreciate all things motorcycle (well, most things) I prefer the old school standard motorcycle. Cruisers (especially choppers) and most sportbikes just dont do it for me asthetically (but I doubt I’d turn one down if offered). I prefer the look of the old Triumphs and Harleys from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. I think of the heros of my youth: Fonzi, Steve McQeen, and Evil Knievel and the bikes they rode. But I also like the looks of the old cafe racers – Ducatti and Moto Guzzi for example. Anyway, that’s just me.
Anyway, despite the 5 inches of snow we picked up last night, I hope to make the 3 hour trek to see this bike. The people even offered to haul it up here if I buy it. Once the snow melts my goal is to get the hang of it and hopefully by summer be using it as my commuter to work (16 miles of mostly country roads with some in-town driving).
Any advice would be welcome. I’ve been thinking about this for so long and soon it will come to pass. I’ll keep you all updated.

Let us know how the nighthawk turns out And don’t ride it in the snow! haha!
