Hello all,
My name is Sokie and like most people, I found this website and read a lot of helpful information. My boyfriend recently got a Susuki GXS-R 600 and I’ve grown very envious of him. lol. I am taking a basic rider’s course in July and I am currently saving to get a bike to call my own.
I stand at 5’2 at 95 pounds…..(I’ve stopped growing since my junior year in highschool..lol) Any suggestions for a bike suited for my size?
I was came across a forum about a Kawasaki Ninja 250R. I’ve heard and read many great reviews about this bike and that it’s well suited for short riders.
I look forward to reading any advices that you guys may have and I hope I can contribute any knowledge as well.

The ninja was my first choice when I was looking for a bike, but I wanted a bit more of my foot on the ground. I wasn’t sure at the time how much I could get out of shaving the seat down. Go out to your local dealerships and sit on as many bikes as you can. See what feels comfortable.
Best of luck in your class, and happy shopping!

Hopefully if I do get one, lowering it might help. Thank you for your advice! See you around on the forum

It’s typical for it to be set for an “average” 160lb rider, but then it won’t have enough give for your featherweight. If they set it to the lowest setting, you may find that it settles a tab under your weight — possibly enough to get your feet on the ground enough that you’re confortable. (Also, this adjustment only takes a minute, so they should be able to do it on the show floor.)

The lady recommends that I get something along the lines of a GSX-R600 as a starter…in my mind, I’m going “no way!” lol. I actually sat on a ninja and my toes could touch the ground.
Have a wonderful day!

Becareful and not let the dealer up sale you when you do buy a bike. I was looking at getting a bigger bike ( and still looking) and read on another site that if you have a jumpy start and give to much throttle the next thing you know you’re going 60mph riding a wheelie and you’re lucky if that’s all that happens and this made sense if you think about it. I am not saying that the GSX-R600 is not a good bike to start with..but be safe and start with the 250cc class bike like the 250R to knock out the bumps and bruises and then move up later. Have fun!!!
