ParticipantHi. What happens when you get around 39-40 years old? Your view of things start to change. I was never interested in motorcycles until last year. Gas was hitting over 4$ a gallon, and I had to do something drastic. Soooo, I signed up for the motorcycle safety course to give it a try. Amazingly, I passed, and got my endorsement. Then, several months later, after reading magazines, websites, library books, everything I could get my hands on, I now have my first bike, a yellow and black, 2004, Suzuki GS500F. It only had about 4,000 miles on it when I got it from someone on Craigslist.
At this point, I’ve had the bike for about a month now. I’ve ridden it to work from Johnstown to Columbus 4 times, and will probably make it 5 tomorrow, which is a Friday. I really enjoy it, although there are times I will admit I get a little nervous. However, I learn something new each time I take the bike out, and this website has certainly helped me a lot. The one article that lists things for newbies to know has been the most helpful to me. Just the “loose on top, tight on bottom” concept has made things more comfortable and relaxed for me, yet I feel in control and alert as I go down the road, with nothing around me but my jacket, gloves, and helmet! It’s an awesome feeling!July 10, 2009 at 1:13 pm #20479wbsprudels
ParticipantWelcome from Indianapolis, Jtown. Your story sounds ver similar to mine. I’m 43, never interested in motorcycles until last year when gas hit $4, took the MSF course, bought my first bike, and 8000 miles later having the time of my life!

ParticipantWelcome from Vermont. Much the same story here but I was 45 last year when the bug bit me.
